About Hunter/Jumper Events

The hunter/jumper discipline encompasses two related but distinct types of competition. Hunter classes judge the horse's movement, manners, and jumping style, rewarding smooth, consistent performances that would be ideal for foxhunting. Jumper classes focus purely on performance, with objective scoring based on faults for knockdowns and time penalties. Many riders compete in both divisions, though some specialize in one or the other.
